Hi Kathy Jo,
Human Resources is a fancy name for the old personnel department. It =
turns out humans as workers are a resource and you can manage them. =
Today, Human resource Department have Information System - HRIS. Pretty =
interesting stuff, HR handles , hiring, firing, employee benefits, =
making sure federal notices get posted and the laws get kept. I am the =
Human Resources departmet for the small company I also do bookkeeping =
for. I make sure that all the "aliens" have the proper papers and they =
are not expired, that the drivers have the proper drivers permits and =
get the physicals and renew their licenses. Since Meridian has a large =
number of Immigrant Hispanics - I make it point to make sure everything =
is posted in English and in Spanish. Oh and I have the forms in both =
languages. I am currently building an HRIS system for Meridian - which =
is much more up my alley as a computer weenie.=20

How long ago was that Michael. Apparently, they are getting stricter as to
who is allowed to actually insert the pump, and who is allowed to receive
one. For those for whom it's appropriate, it works very well. Medtronic is
the company who makes it and you can get more information on it on the
website. The important one is to get a practioner who is trained correctly
in the protocols on how to use it. Also, a Doctor Albright in Philadelphia
has developed protocols for it's use.

As we age, the brain continues to change and learns to retrieve
information in new ways, says neuropsychologist Sylvie Belleville of the

In healthy aging, some decline in memory is normal. However, a 1999
study by Ronald C. Petersen, a researcher at the Mayo Clinic, has
demonstrated that among the =93worried well,=94 there is a group whose
memory scores are lower than others of similar age and medication level,
who may have something called mild cognitive impairment.=20
More of a working concept than a diagnosis, 12 per cent of people who
meet the criteria for mild cognitive impairment eventually develop
Alzheimer=92s disease =96 compared with one to two per cent of the =
general

Belleville has developed an innovative program for people complaining
of memory problems in general. Participants in the self-development
program are referred by their doctors and meet for eight weeks for up to
two hours per week. They receive training in attention and information
