Is there any possiblity it is a hard drive issue / crash? I guess the post beep is the indicator that rules this out, right?

This is new to me.  I had an instance where would get all of the hardware to check out, but then the machine would just sit on the HP screen (since this was a shelf item).

After troubleshooting, I discovered a disconnected harddrive ribbon cable.  Until that point, it would just sit and sit, but I do not think there was any hard drive activity.  It was either that, or the light just glowed constant. I don't recall.
