Kathy,

There is nothing more stressful than building a house. When my son's house
was built in the back part of our lot, it took us months just to get that
part of my property released and rezoned and deeded over to my son. Then
his general contractor turned out to be dishonest and actually my son ended
up doing most of the guy's job for him. The city inspectors screwed stuff
up so badly at times, I was beginning to wonder if it would ever get worked
out. I think I mentioned the day we had something like three cement mixers
sitting next to our house waiting on a city inspector to come who had
promised to be there at a certain time but never showed up or even called.
My wife literally called the mayor's office one time and an inspector showed
up that time faster than you could have believed. It was an experience. So
just try and enjoy it one day at a time even if they don't work on it every
day. I know, easier said than done. Sometimes, though, you have to push
back when they don't do what they say and have agreed to do.

Phil.
