Lot of people asked for the GF items one can eat at El Torito's. Here is an email that I got from them today:

Dear Arvinder Malhotra,

Thank you for writing with your question. El Torito's products feature
ingredients which may contain wheat flour and/or gluten. If your
condition
is life threatening then it may be in your best interest to avoid our
restaurant due to the possible, however extremely unlikely, event that
residue from contraindicated products may come in contact with those
considered "safe."

I am not a dietitian and therefore cannot tell you what you can or
cannot
eat. It would be a good idea to review this information with a
certified
dietitian or your doctor before dining. I have noted the items that are
served with sweet corn cake and/or a side of tortillas. When ordering
these
items make sure to ask the server to leave the corn cake off the plate
and
only order corn tortillas as a side dish, never flour. In addition we
cannot
be certain that any of our cheeses or anything fried are totally gluten
free, they may contain trace amounts. Also it would be a good idea to
speak
to a manager and inform him or her of your allergy.

Never order ranchera sauce, sour cream sauce, sweet corn cake, flour
tortillas, chile rellenos or deep fried ice cream as these items all
contain
flour. Always choose Serrano Grape Vinaigrette salad dressing and ask
for no
cheese.

chef
specials are constantly changing so we are unable to make a blanket
statement regarding the ingredients used to prepare them.
