Given the theme of this special issue, I figured there might be
opportunities for folks to address accessibility and eLearning.

Subject: Innovate Special Issue on eEducation

This is a call for submissions for a special issue on the future of electronic education (eEducation) in K-12, higher education (both undergraduate and graduate), and extended learning. We seek manuscripts on leading edge practices ("what is") and articles that are future focused on "what should be" or "what will be."  The latter manuscripts should start with the assumption that the current state of eEducation is an early evolutionary stage of a much more complex and advanced form whose emergence we are witnessing. Given a careful understanding of what is, what will eEducation look like circa 2010 - 2020.

Topics of special interest include:

Automation: What role might "intelligent tutors" play in instruction? How might data mining and knowledge management technologies impact instruction and administration?

Instructional best practices: What are the conditions that optimize learning?  What electronic technologies could be exploited to realize those conditions and accelerate learning?

Advanced electronic courses: If money were not an issue, how might we use electronic technologies to produce a course on, say, quantum mechanics, or Shakespeare's history plays, or anatomy, or group dynamics, or economic systems design?

Video game technologies: What role will they play in the future of eEducation?

Visualization: The convergence of TV and the computer has resulted in a screen-based culture in which pictures are displacing the printed word as the dominant medium. How will the process of visualization affect eEducation in the future?
