Joy,
The "OLD" dos trick which may still work is to hold down the alt key and
type the ascii character number on the number pad.
remember to hold the alt key all the time while hitting all the necessary
digits.
The return is alt-13 linefeed is alt-10
You may have to toggle numlock if your screen reader won't let loose of the
number pad otherwise.
When reviewing what you've  entered, return may read as "female",
