I had a chance to try native-made chocolate a few times. I was
mountain climbing in Guatemala, and at the very peak of a high volcano
a man had built a fire and was boiling cocoa in a pot to sell to the
tourists. Completely different from anything you can buy ready-made.
Thick and oily and bitter, but with a lot of dark sugar. In that place
and tired as we were, it was wonderful.
