In March I did a 7 day cleanse which consisted of drinking rice protein
shakes, veggie juice, herbal tea, and water only. I felt much better
afterwards and followed it up with a 10 day cleans in June which left me
feeling even better. I did this through a colonic irrigationist (part of the
cleanse was getting colonics) who suggested I continue to fast one day a
week with either just water and/or juice, or add the rice protein shakes.

Well, I have kind of taken a liking to the shakes but I know they are not
paleo. The ingredients are enzymatically processed rice protein from CA
brown rice and vanilla flavoring. The carbs are 1.7 grams per serving, but I
realize that low carb doesn't automatically equal paleo.

My question is how damaging is rice protein? I know what wheat can do to
your body, but what about the protein from rice. And how does a weekly 1-day
fast fit in with paleo? I would like to continue but am concerned that in
the long run the rice protein will cause other problems?! Also, because I
have come to like it so much (just a change from meat and veggies), I tend
to reach for it as a snack or 'dessert'.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kristina
