Arafat Standing on Jan. 20.
JEDDAH, 13 January 2005 - The Standing at Arafat which marks the climax of Haj will this year fall on Thursday, Dul Hijjah 9, corresponding to Jan. 20, and Eid Al-Adha (the feast of sacrifice) will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 21, the Supreme Judiciary Council announced yesterday.
The council said in a statement that since no one came forward to declare they have sighted the new moon at the end of the lunar month of Dul Qaada, and since Tuesday, Jan. 11, was the 30th day of Dul Qaada according to Umm Al-Qura calendar, Wednesday, Jan. 12, is the first day of Dul Hijjah.
