I have seen all the messages about divorce, marriage, and relationships.
Marriage is one of those things that you really have to work at. I used to
feel sort of superior to people who were talking about divorce, after all,
"I would never do that" but we don't know what we would do, or think if
placed in a bad situation.
Marriage is a spiritual union, a commitment, I think that our society views
it as a sort of contract, like a deal, if all the aspects of the deal aren't
being fulfilled, well it is wise to get out of that deal and find a better
one.
I am sad to see so many leave just because it is hard, though I can
sympathize with them, there was a time when I too wanted even prayed that
God would give me peace about leaving my marriage.
People only want to leave because they are tired of being sad, tired of
arguing, tired of crying in the middle of the night.
I can understand the feelings as I have been there.
And so I pray for all our marriages, knowing how human nature makes us all
want what we want when we want it, and how we always want things our own
way, I have learned that love is so much more than a fuzzy feeling,
sometimes it is a choice.
So instead of telling those who are in the midst of feeling like quitting
that they are wrong, I tell them that I understand, and that once they loved
each other, once they made a promise, and I believe every effort should be
made to keep that promise! divorce is wrong, it is not good for couples, nor
for children.
My heart is filled with compassion for anyone who is going through marriage
difficulties, to them I say hold on! fight the good fight, talk even when
you don't want to, forgive, let God help you, stay just because you
promised.
