What about the Eilkraft (not sure about the spelling).  I know Buddy Brannon
had quite a nice write-up on it and it is *very* accessible and the company is
taking steps to make it even more user-friendly for the blind.  I don't know
if it is quite as portable as the Yaesu, but it does run on batteries as a QRP
in the field rig.
