Wow...thanks for all the interesting responses and support. I suppose to be
totally honest, I
would have to say that when I cheat once, it leads to more cheating the next
day and then the
next. Usually with bread (since I'm Jewish I "must" eat bread at least once a
week on Shabbat as
part of the ritual), but I always eat more than I have to, especially when I
make the bread myself,
because, frankly, my bread tastes fantastic. This week I had a craving for
butter with my bread,
which leads me to believe that what Fredrik is saying about not getting enough
fat has a lot of
merit. For the first few weeks I was eating paleo, I ate a lot of avocados and
had less problem
with wanting to cheat. Maybe I need to get back to that.
What do others do to make sure you get enough fat in your diet? The other day
I had a steak
that had some fat on the side which I cut off. When the rest of the steak was
gone, I eyed that
fat for several minutes wondering if it was a good idea to eat it or not. Then
I realized that a
good caveperson wouldn't let a perfectly decent piece of fat go to waste, so I
slurped it up
happily!
