Dear Ashley,
many thanks for sharing your experiences of carb craving, it was really
interesting. I think that you may have found the solution for me. I love
eating as much fat with my meat as possible, but as more small-scale
independent butchers are getting put out of business by the supermarkets
on the larger islands here, it is getting harder to buy small cuts of meat
with sufficient fat attached.
The low-fat obsession in Western societies is getting me down. However, as
I want to eat this way for life, I am willing to go out of my way to find
good food sources.
I’m aiming for a daily diet of meat, fish, shellfish, eggs, veg and nuts.
I can eventually do without the fruit, as I believe it’s dispensable as
long as I have the much more nutritious veg.
Thanks so much for your advice. I’m eating about 1/6 to 1/4 visible fat to
meat, weight-wise at present. I will do my best to find more fat to eat
with my meat and see how the carb-cravings respond.
