NHE recommends 15 to 50 gr protein per meal, which is a wide range, and
4-5 meals per day. I'm shooting for 30 to 36 gr/meal, though occasionally
I splurge over a bit, to prevent gluconeogenesis and subsequent raising of
insulin. In the first month or so, I was eating 4 meals a day, but I
seem to be
satisfied on three now, most of the time.

Eating a great slug of meat (12-16 oz) doesn't "feel" right; I feel
sluggish
and out of sorts, and it unbalances the rest of the diet for me.
I'm not a bodybuilder and not into heavy aerobics so
I don't have a need for huge amounts of protein. If I can get my knee
problems fixed up eventually, I'll hike and bike more, and plan to
add that fourth meal back to make up the difference.

His bodybuilders program also allows 15-50 gr protein per meal, but
they are supposed to eat at least 5 meals a day.
