Programmer
Modify and develop educational software used by
blind and visually impaired children and adults
on the Windows platform.   Write product
documentation, provide troubleshooting, and
consult with other programmers on technical specifications and information.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Study, modify, and write software.
2.    Document changes made in software.
3.    Write or review user documentation for a software project.
4.    Meet with Project Leaders.
5.    Provide backup technical support for
customers with situations beyond normal technical support staff 
capabilities.
6.    Assist co-workers with computer use or other computer related 
problems.



Education (Computer), Training, and Experience Requirements:

Four year degree majoring in computer science, or
an equivalent in-depth specialized computer training program.
A high level of judgment, analytical ability, and
creativity are required to analyze information
and recommend solutions.  The candidate should
possess a verifiable and working knowledge of
MFC, OLE, and structured programming practices
and should be ready to learn about speech
synthesis and screen access issues.  A working
knowledge of Linux and programming in the Linux environment is a plus.
Most projects are written in C and C++, but a
working knowledge of Java and x86 assembly language is a plus.
Over two years experience preferred but not
required.  Strong knowledge of technical aspects
of computer product lines.  Ability to
communicate complex ideas to consumers concerning
programming and technical knowledge of computer usage.

Salary negotiable based on related education and
experience, as well as pay grade assignment.
