Hello Arianna and other interested parties:

I can recall this happening to me once. That is my email scanning was turned
off.

Bring up AVG control center

Pull down the view menu

Choose components from menu

Choose email scanning from sub menu

The properties panel will open ant this will tell you if scanning is in
effect.

Right arrow over once to choose the general tab. Make sure the three check
boxes at the bottom of panel are checked.

Here is what the item in the help menu says about email scanning:

E-mail Scanner Test Properties

The E-Mail Scanner configuration dialog allows you to modify parameters for
the E-Mail Scanner.

The Test name and description group allows you to change the test name and
comments.

The E-Mail scanning group enables to specify the behavior for the E-mail
scanner test, for incoming messages and for outgoing messages, respectively.

Enable the Check incoming/outgoing mail option to check incoming/outgoing
messages for viruses.

Enable the Certify mail option to add a certification text to your message
confirming that no viruses have been found in the message.

Enable the with attachments only option to add certification texts only to
messages already containing attached files.

Safe computering to you all
