I thought I would share with the VICUG e-mail group what is going on in
VIPACE. Here is information about our next meeting. If anyone is on the
VICUG list would like to also be on our VIPACE e-mail list (which is very
low traffic, mainly just the announcements like the one below), send a blank
e-mail to [log in to unmask]

Subject: Next VIPACE Meeting - June 22, 2004

John Lichter, Coordinator of the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT), is
graciously hosting the Visually Impaired Pittsburgh Area Computer
Enthusiasts (VIPACE) on Tuesday, June 22, 2004, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
We will meet at IAT's facilities, located at the Community College of
Allegheny County (CCAC), Milton Hall, Room 108. Milton Hall is located at
808 Ridge Avenue in the Northside of Pittsburgh.

The IAT is a computer training facility for individuals with disabilities.
The IAT has trained people with disabilities in computer technology for the
past 19 years, enabling them to gain employment and lead rich and productive
lives. The program is a partnership among CCAC, business and industry, and
state/federal government.

Mr. Lichter is particularly interested in exchanging dialog with VIPACE
members, especially those who are in the information technology field, on
how to make IAT's training more accessible to the blind and visually
impaired community. Also, in his efforts to make this program accessible to
this community, he is interested in hosting five blind or visually impaired
students in upcoming months. If you know of anyone who may be interested,
please encourage him or her to attend our meeting. At a minimum, be
prepared to give Mr. Lichter contact information.

Learn more about the IAT by visiting its webpage at www.ccac.edu/IAT. If
you have any questions
concerning the meeting, please contact Gene Rossi at 412-683-2846, or Mike
Gravitt at 412-344-2313.
