Notepad is integrated into windows and is the default .txt reader.
Wordpad reads files in the .doc format. You do not want to get rid of
notepad, you need it. To have your files open in word you must convert
the file from a .txt file to a .doc file. To do this open the file in
word then save it as a .doc file. You can also go to 'my computer' amd
then click the 'tools' on the title bar. When the menu opens up click
'folder options'. Under 'folder options' click on 'file types', then
find TXT. When you find TXT highlite it. Towards the middle of the
dialog box there is a button that reads 'change' Click on it and then
choose Word to read txt documents.
