Here is a link to Microsoft's administrative downloads:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=7
This allows you to download the service packs instead of automatically
installing them. You can also request the SP2 CD instead of downloading the
275MB.
Yes, there are also the patches for office that can be slipstreamed into a
CD. Search the Microsoft site for "Administrative Updates" and you should be
able to find some pages to get you going.
Hope this helps.

Peter!
Thank you for your informative message.
I will try autostreamer and see how it goes. I would sure like to add ALL
of the updates to my slipstreamed CD but I do not understand the concept of
administrative updates/download. My visits to the Microsoft site have come
up empty (altho I did see reference to Office administrative downloads).
Can you point me in the right direction to find these administrative
updates?
I assume that if I can master the XP slipstreaming the same process should
apply to my Office 97 and Word 2000 CDs and updates
