USB ports not working

I have a K7som+ and my front usb ports work but the four in the back of the unit don't work. I checked the Bios Features section and the 'usb function support is enabled but the usb for dos in not.  I need to hook up a printer, scanner and external modem.  Why are the back usb ports not working?
