Hi Anthony,
Here I use a Tentec 238B. I like it a lot. It is an L network as opposed
to the T network of most commercial tuners. I find it works very well, has
a very wide range of tuning and once I find the tuning spot for an antenna,
I can make a cheat sheet, go back to those settings and be at either 1 to 1
SWR or can reach it within five or six seconds of applying power. Others
that I think are good in the modern tuners are the Nye Viking MB-5A, the
Palstar 1500 watt models, the Palstar 4K and the Ameritron ATr-30. All of
these, particularly the Palstar models and the MB-5A are quite expensive but
well worth the quality. All of these will tune from 160 up. In recent
tests in QST, the Tentec that I have came out the pretty clear winner. It
is probably the best deal for the money.
Older tuners with full range from 160 up might include the Dentron MT-3000
series tuners and, if you can find one, a Wanzer match.
All of the tuners I've listed above can take full legal limit. I personally
would stay away from MFJ. I like some of their products but don't trust
their tuners.
I hope this helps and have a great day. Very 73.
Kevin :)
