The 570 is that way too, the monitor is in the menu though and you turn it
down all the way to off for the monitor, as for the remote function on the
mic,  that would never bother me, personally I don't like hand mics at all,
nor do I like the sound of a hand mic on HF on the newer Kenwood radios, the
2000 is better then the 570 at that but I'd probably never use it. In fact
the hand mic for my 570 is in the box down cellar still I've never even
tried it. It's still in the plastic.  The sub tones don't read with the VS-3
on the 2000,  that's strange.  you're referring to PL tones right?
