Hi (from a long time lurker),
I've had a query from a carer of a young man with an acquired brain injury.
The guy is planning a trip to the US. He is dysphasic and has some
coordination and memory problems but is pretty independent. He will have a
carer with him on the trip, but the carer will have some down time. The
young man's parents/team want him to be able to contact the carer wherever
he is eg across the other side of town and do this in any city.
His therapy team feel he could press a sequence of 2 (maybe 3) numbers, but
this would be compromised if he was stressed/ had fallen over (cognitive
rather than physical issue). The team is enquiring about pager systems/
mobile phones that could be used - I'm not sure what's available in the
States or who to contact. The solution may be a phone with international
roaming..not sure..
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you, Ania Ciechanowski
