Hi all--

Over the past several months (since April, I think), I've posted questions on a gaggle of topics trying to determine the cause of my GI distress following a dining experience out - bloating, SEVERE constipation, fatigue -
sound familiar to those of you who don't suffer diahrrea? My family doc finally ran stool samples to determine if I had an overgrowth of yeast or possibly parasites. In the meantime, I tried a probiotic, Stoneyfield yogu
rt, stopped eating sugar and most carbohydrates. The stool tests came back relatively clear, aside from a gram positive bacteria. Two months ago, I started experiencing the feeling that I had a pill stuck in my throat and
general difficulty swallowing bread products and heavier foods. Then I came down with a sinus infection. Then bronchitis.

My doc put me on Levaquin for the sinus infection. Now, ten days later, the bloating and constipation has subsided, the difficulty swallowing has disappeared, sinus infection and bronchitis seem to be resolving.

The catch here, and lesson to me and I hope to everyone who reads this, is that my doc said the antibiotic used to treat my sinus infection and bronchitis also treated the gram positive bacteria in my gut. So, not all cel
iacs need probiotics or yogurt when experiencing GI distress - maybe it's a bacteria that needs an antibiotic.

I know in our quest to ingest the most healthy and uncontaminated foods, we turn to what "seems" a good treatment when we're ill. Let's not forget that antibiotics are not always the villain to our delicate GI tract. This
 opened my eyes!

Hope this information is helpful to everyone.

Cheers,
Ayn in Alabama
