A recent post mentioned Primal Defense ( www.gardenoflifeusa.com
<http://www.gardenoflifeusa.com/> ) I second it!
When I was first diagnosed, I had strong food sensitivities for corn, milk,
soy, sugar, nuts and peanuts. After 8 months I no longer seemed sensitive to
sugar and tree nuts, but I still had all the others. The sensitivity to soy
was down to the “trace” level, and it caused severe mental/emotional
disturbance. I had to avoid it with the same vigilance as gluten!
Enter Primal Defense. It is wonderful probiotic bases on homeostatic soil
organisms. This really changed things for me. I can eat the other foods,
though I still have a slight sensitivity to corn if I eat too much of it. I
still don’t eat soy, per se, but I don’t worry about the trace amount. For
instance, the other day I ate some veggies that had been sort of marinated
in a Bragg’s sauce. I simply let most of the sauce drip through the slotted
spoon and ate the veggies with no problem at all. That much soy in the past
would have caused severe bladder problems AND mental/emotional anguish and
over-reaction to simple upsets. Now, nothing happens. I’m “normal”. I
typically take one capsule every day or two for maintenance”.
Dr. Jonathan Rubin mentions that most commercial yogurts have a strain of
culture that is harmful for people with any autoimmune diseases. I thought
“surely not!” (I believe the strain is s. themophilus – but I’ve loaned out
my book.) I have found that if I allow my celiac kids to have yogurt on a
daily basis, it does cause problems)
On a separate topic, I’ve seen Crohn’s mentioned here several times. I’ve
served in a large healing prayer ministry for years, and I have an interest
in natural healing…so I keep my eyes open for things that might be of help
to others. I had chanced upon an Italian study that mentioned most people
would not have a recurrence of Crohn’s if they take 9 capsules of fish oil
per day. I imagine this means 3 capsules per meal. Soon after reading that I
was counseling a woman suffering from Crohn’s and told her this. She
replied, “Oh my gosh! I used to live on a boat for 6 months and we ate fish
at every meal. It was the only time in my adult life that I have been
perfectly healthy!”
I hope this is of help.
