Gambia probes U-17 'failure'

The Baby Scorpions were eliminated in the first-round
The Gambian government has set up a commission of inquiry to look into the performance of the under-17 team at the recent World Championship in Peru.
The reigning African champions won two of their three group games but were eliminated in the first round.
Dutch end Gambia's dream
In a move that will raise a few eyebrows, the Gambia's Sports Minister, Samba Faal, inaugurated the seven-man committee in Banjul on Friday.
Many pundits are of the opinion that the Gambians should be content with having taken part in a major tournament for the first time in their history.
Their victories over Brazil and Qatar were largely unexpected.
The panel is expected to submit its report in 30 days. It has been asked to look into the team's display against Holland and the overall performance of the Gambia FA's technical committee.
Momodou Musa, chairman of the committee, told BBC Sport that his panel is determined to "uncover the reasons for the team's failure" to reach the knock-out stages.
"We've had similar experiences in the past, when the country has come close to getting to the top in a tournament, only to crash out."
Gambia's debut at the world championship gave the game a new lease of life in a country where a lack of success on the international stage had left many fans disillusioned.
