Rod;
I would try the motherboard manufacturer's website, and
download the correct sound drivers for XP.

Subject: [PCBUILD] sound card not recognized by windows XP

Hi

I have an onboard sound card (ES1869 from ess technologies) which works fine
unders Windows ME but not under XP. I get the message that " the firmware of
the device did not give the required resources". I have tried the ESS site
and they say that the drivers for the card are built into XP and they will
not release new ones.

               The NOSPIN Group Promotions is now offering
              Mandrake Linux or Red Hat Linux CD sets along
             with the OpenOffice CD... at a great price!!!
