I too much prefer fatty meat cuts to lean, trimmed and oily fish to dry
fish. It's not just a taste issue -- it's also an energy and satiety issue
for me. The more fat on the meat, the more energetic I feel after eating
it and the longer I can go without feeling hungry. The only exception to
this I find is when the weather gets very hot and humid here (NYC)-- in
which case, where I may desire "lighter" protein foods with less fat
content ie tuna sashimi, prawns etc.

When I tried Cordain's (lean meat) version of the Paleo Diet -- I found
myself hungry much more often and had to eat much more frequently. I e-
mailed him privately and he was kind enough to make a recommendation that
when hunger hit, simply try snacking on lean protein ie turkey breast. I
did this and found myself eating copious amounts of lean protein yet not
feeling well (irritable, fatigued) and still unable to go as long between
meals. Now, if I have say a small fatty Australian rib lamb chop for
breakfast (9:30ish) with maybe a few berries, I do not feel hungry again
until 2:00 in the afternoon or so. My husband is the opposite -- fatty
meat disgusts him and he feels bloated and sluggish after eating it. He's
trimmed his meat since he was a child.
