A question: When buying organic meat directly from the farmer, is it
normally frozen or refrigerated?
I've located an organic meat supplier near Ottawa (Ontario, Canada), and the
guy says that he will be selling it frozen. I am a little concerned because
I will have to drive it back to my house, which is about an hour, where I
will be re-freezing it. Also he has to transport it to the farmer's market
which takes additional time. I was expecting it to be only refreigerated so
I am a little taken aback.
What have other people encountered? Is it better to wait for a better time
of the year to buy this meat (like right after slaughter)?
Thanks,
Marilyn
