There's been much discussion recently about whether or not CD qualifies an individual for SS Disability. I've never heard of this happening and would be very interested if anyone has qualified on the basis of this disease alone (and its' sequelae which can be severe). However, I have two suggestions to anyone who is going to try going this route:
1. Ask your doctor(s) for HIS opinion. He is the one who will need to fill out the forms certifying that you are indeed disabled.
2. Get the book Disability Evaluation Under Social Security published by the SSAdministration, SSA Pub No.64-039. It is available free to health professionals. Do you know a nurse, chiropractor or other health professional who could obtain this for you? Or you can ask for help at your state representative's office. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with this sort of thing. The book tells what the law considers a disability, goes over the entire application process, and lists impairments system by body system that qualify as disabling.
