Normal dietary exposure to aluminum is 30-50 mg per day. Aluminum
utensils do not contribute significantly to that unless acid foods are
regularly cooked, and then only an additional 5 to 10% aluminum is
added in the diet. Thus utensils are not a significant contributor to
aluminum exposure. We get more aluminum from drinking water.
Epidemiologic studies have not been consistent in regards to aluminum
in the diet and Alzheimer's. There was data form the 1970's that
raised questions about a link due to aluminum compounds being found in
Alzheimer's plaques . The data did not pan out in follow up studies,
but the original articles from the 1970's get referenced every once in
a while.
