Subject: [PCBUILD] Attempted upgrade leads to no POST

> I opened up my case to add a second stick of PC2700, 256MB. After
installing it, I saw the computer boot normally through POST. I think I
heard the Win98 opening wav, but I'm not certain. I was looking at the
chipset fan that has been giving me problems, and was not spinning. When I
looked at the screen, it was totally blank. I turned of the power and
removed the new memory module. However, the POST now fails at every power
up. All of the fans come on (except the chipset fan that needs
encouraging), and I can hear some brief activity that sounds like the hard
drive, but the screen remains completely blank and the pc case speaker beeps
periodically. I can't find anything in the motherboard manual that
addresses this problem or explains the beep. I substituted a different
video card that is known-good, but there was no change. I tested the
voltage of the bios battery. It's at 3.3 volts. This motherboard (Iwill
xp333) is less than 2 years old. What should I do? Thank you for any
help. -Barry
