when your allergic and/or asthmatic child(ren) is/are sick (I.e.--they get a cold or start coughing) do u take them to ped? allergist? or pulmonologist?  I find I lean on my pulmo for A LOT when maybe I should just go to ped first?! (we don't have an allergist we love, so we use pulmo for allergy issues)  I trust both my docs, in fact, the ped is also a pulmonologist BUT it just seems that the kids seem to respond better to the more aggressive treatment that the pulmo uses (I.e. the ped uses pulmicort and only orapred as a LAST resort, while the pulmo will give orapred if he thinks Tyler needs it, without hesitation).  My younger guy doesn't even technically need the pulmo but he has seen him, along with big brother, for his eczema, food issues and colds, while I was in the process of finding a new ped a few months back.  Whenever I call the pulmo he ALWAYS says I can bring them right in and he seems HE prefers that I got straight to him as opposed to the ped first.  he is also there for me, literally 24/7, so I FEEL like he is my first point of contact.  Pulmo is 25 minutes away while ped is only 5 minutes away...but like all of you, I'd travel across the earth for the best care!! Also my co pay is same for ped as for specialists!!  I just wondered if I was doing the "wrong" thing by running to the pulmo for everything that is cold/allergy/coughing related?!  What do YOU do??
