Dory,
If you do not enter the www and the dot com IE will enter search mode and
give you a list of pages it could be. To avoid this and the address ends in
a dot com. Then press Control-Enter after entering the name into the
address bar.

I use windows 98se and window eyes 4.5sp2, just installed sp3; and ie6sp1.
That's just background info. Here's my situation.
I had tried
repairing ie6 and got the message a file was missing; I think it was
seqchek.dll; run setup and reinstall components. I did that and the
situation has improved but I do not think it is totally cured.
When I go to a website quite often it first goes to some sort of search page
as follows
Choose a category for your search:
Find a Web page
Find a person's address
Find a business
Previous searches
Find a map
Look up a word
Find a picture
Find a Web page containing:

This has happened before but not as frequently; it usually went ahead and
loaded the site I wanted. But finally yesterday, it would not and that's
why I tried to repair it. What I want to know is there anything I can do to
stop it from loading the above search page? I tried to go to a site this
morning and had to try three times before it would go beyond that search
page.
