Have you enabled CD Burning on this drive?
Assuming it's XP, right-click the drive letter, look under "Recording".

I can play still pictures on my cd drive but when I put in a blank cd to
burn it states no cd-r detected when I do have a cd-r in it.  If I check on
my computer and the d drive it says wrong function.  What do I need to do?
