Sounds like you have the tones on for receive and transmit with the wrong
receive tone in, the 7 key will fix that, if you want to have no tone, keep
hitting it until you get the low tone, if you want to transmit a tone, hit
it 1 high beep past the low beep. If that doesn't do it, check your squelch
setting, hit the #5 key, then turn the tuning dial on top of the radio
counter clockwise until you get a lot beep, then I have mine 1 click to the
right after that so it just stops the noise, then hit the 5 key again to
save the setting.
