Congrats on getting the General.
I think you'll like the thf-6a, it really is a nice little radio.
That's really great that the guy would program repeaters into the radio for you, and maybe he wouldn't even mind a phone call with a few questions once you
actually have the radio in your hand. <smile>
The key layout document from ican work this thing are a real help in learning your way around the radio and where the controls are.
It just makes more sense once you can read things and actually have the radio in your hand.
As for the license thing, that's one really nice thing about ham radio. You can go as far as you want, but you don't have to get each and every license there
is in order to enjoy the hobby. Lots of folks just get the tech or maybe the General and it meets their needs, so they don't go further.
Actually, the class of license a person has reflects more of their interests than of their technical knowledge.
