Benin appoint Ghanaian coach http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/africa/2985283.stm Benin's Football Federation have named Ghanaian Jones Attuquayefio as their new national coach. Attuquayefio is a former national coach of Ghana and managed Accra Hearts of Oak when they won the African Champions League in 2000. As a player, he appeared in three successive finals of the African Nations Cup tournament with Ghana's Black Stars, winning in 1965 and being on the losing side in 1968 and 1970. He replaces Belgian Rene Taelman, whose contract was not renewed after Benin lost 3-0 to Sudan in a Nations Cup qualifier. The Ghanaian coach has been given a short-term contract for the remaining Group Three qualifiers. They have home games against Sudan and Zambia and an away tie in Tanzania. Benin have four points from their first three games and are third in the group. --------------------------------------------------- Published: 2003/04/29 11:23:14 © BBC MMIII ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, visit: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/aam.html AAM Website: http://www.danenet.wicip.org/aam ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
