Much of this is O.K. but I disagree with the external fan replacement for
a chip cooling fan.  You'll never know if you're really cooling the processor
properly and just letting it run a bit too warm will probably reduce its
lifetime considerably.

The replacement cost of any of these fans, power supplies etc. is trivial
compared to the cost of the microprocessor chip which is
a couple hundred bucks.

Also, replacing power supplies requires more care than just a physical fit.
connectors to mother boards are not entirely standard.
