Thanks everybody for all the answers, (on list and off)...
I never lost access to the data, and the drive is working perfectly.
I might not have been clear on that point...
I only have the error/warning when in the recovery console while
"testing" fixmbr. I plan on testing what happens "for real" in a few
days, by working on a cloned HD. (The warning says I might loose
everything, so I do all the really dangerous stuff on a cloned HD.)
To answer your question/reply, my Knoppix 3.6 live CD will access
any data that was not encrypted by the OS... (Same as below...)
I prefer to use a simple BartPE CD for "OS external access", (and/or
repairs), since it is "more than likely" to be more Windows friendly,
due to it being built from my OWN Windows files, locally...
Disclaimer: Win-XP-SP1 (or higher) needed to build CD.
