Ok, maybe the problem is that I bought a Radio Shack usb to serial adapter
cable. The box says it is for a printer cable but in fact is a usb to 9 pin
serial cable. The floppy that comes with it seems to be of no assistance
and xp-pro cannot seem to do anything to find it. Now maybe you can answer
this, is there something I need to do to tell it about the proper com port
assignment? You might want to respond off list.

I appreciate you guys thoughts on this matter. It is a frustration to buy a
new laptop and not be able to program all of the serial devices such as the
ts-2000. I also have scanners and a repeater controller that are all serial
devices.
