Nothing I know of blind specific, but there's lots of
info in the help file. First of all you need to make
sure that you're set to work in explorer view. That
means picking explorer view, if you'ree using window
eyes, you can find explorer view with the mouse
pointer, or Jaws cursor if you're using Jaws I think,
but then you need to hit alt+p for preferences. Tab
through all the stuff there and uncheck all the boxes
that say show in index view. You don't want that
coming back, because screen-readers don't work well in
index view. Then you should be able to navigate with
no problem. You just go where you want in the tree
views, then tab to get the station list in the list
view. Then you can hit enter on a station you want to
connect. You'll hear a boop beep that tells you you're
connected. a beep boop tells you you've been
disconnected. F6 will take you around the 4 windows in
a circular fashion, 1 of which tells you who you're
connected to, or you can just read it with the mouse.
I just go to the bottom left and navigate up till I
see the station connected. Another window in the 4
says edit box s send, that's where you can type text
messages, then tab to send them. You'll transmit with
the space bar unless you want to change that. You'll
probably want to set it for momentary, so it acts like
a push to talk instead of a toggle. The help files
tell you how to do these things. There's also a hot
keys section of the help files. To get you started,
control O gives you an edit box to enter a call sign
to connect to, hit tab in that and you can enter a
node number instead, like 9999 for the test server
where you can transmit a test and it plays it back to
you. Control +d disconnects. I think if you just surf
the help files they'll tell you quite a lot. If I've
gotten you confused, let me know and I'll try to clear
it up a bit. Whistles? don't know about that 1,
there's signals, the sounds you hear when stations
connect, disconnect, send text to you, you're alarms
change, and the time out timer warning. I won't
confuse you with that just now.
