This is the cat tapeworm I was talking about:

"Several types of tapeworms are known to infect cats; Dipylidium caninum is
by far the most common."
http://www.drpetra.com/Cats/Tapeworm%20Infection%20in%20Cats.htm

And http://www.aces.edu/department/ipm/FLEAIPM.htm
"a more serious medical concern for people in the U.S. is infection by the
dog tapeworm, Diplylidium caninum. The cat flea is an intermediate host of
the tapeworm. An intermediate host carries the parasite from one primary
host to another. ............... One study reported that 24%
of dogs and 30% of cats carried the tapeworm. Another study reported that
approximately 1.1% of the fleas are infected with tapeworm."

Ewww.....and to think I give the kitties little kissies.
