I still have acne, although it's turning into greasy skin more than
spots as time goes on (about 5 months of reasonably strict paleo so
far). I think things have improved a lot since I left home and am now
eating little more than organic meat (or wild fish), organic veg, and
eggs (the slightly suspect $B&X (B-3 eggs from vegetarian chickens). I allow
the odd slip- I am tempted to use black (soy) beans once a fortnight or
so, I have a chinese takeaway about once a week, and sometimes I have
barbecued chicken, the sauce of which contains godonlyknowswhat.
After something I read a long time ago, I believe that acne is
basically insulin resistance in the skin, so it would make sense to
restrict carbs quite severely for a time to let my body recover from
years of cornflakes, bread and rice. I've also discovered that even
500mg of vit C gives me diarrhoea- way, way below the tolerance
threshold for most people. So perhaps I am not meant to eat a lot of
fruit.
Unfortunately, I've just discovered creamed coconut (in blocks) and I
think I've swapped my fruit addiction for coconut addiction! I age
whole 200g packet today in two goes. I won't buy any again. Maybe
when I've cleared my body of *all* upsetting substances I can start
eating fruit etc again in moderation. For some mysterious reason, my
nut addiction has gone and I hardly have any desire for nuts now- I
hope I end up this way with fruit, so I eat it when my body needs it,
rather than my mouth.
