I'm not a pathologist, but have had considerable experience with
diverticulosis in my family.  Diverticuli are small pouches of
intestinal wall that have ballooned out into dead-end pouches.  They do
have bits of food, etc. in them, but this is a completely different
thing than stuff stuck to the straight walls of the intestine.
