Dear Listmates -
To date I have received positive responses from 15 persons concerning
my proposal to develop/maintain a website containing a list of food,
cosmetics and drug companies that provide full labeling (i.e. clearly
indicate when major allergens AND rye and barley are present in any
form in their products).

Several listmates had been collecting this information independently.
I am including below a compilation of the feedback I have received to
date. Different companies have different labeling policies (or none
at all), and I don't know if the companies listed below list: (1)
wheat, rye, and barley, (2) major allergens only (this would include
wheat but NOT rye or barley), and/or (3) gluten as a separate
ingredient if it is present. However, according to one or more
listmates, they all indicate if gluten is present. There is no
information about cross contamination.

I will be sending a separate email to those who responded to see if we
can put together a team to tackle the full labeling website project.
If you are interested in participating or have advice and/or opinions
-- let me know -- it is never too late!

I will of course keep the ListServe informed of any progress we make.

Please note, the list below does not include all the terrific specialty
companies that provide gluten free products and clearly label them as
GF (companies mentioned by listmates include Thai Kitchen, Pacific
Foods, Amy's, Bob's Red Mill, Pamela's Kitchen, Foods by George) UNLESS
they were specified as providing full labeling.

Thanks for all the responses.

Jackie in AZ
