Lesson 4
One of the interesting aspects about changing the display features is the switch to high contrast. I assumed before that when a person switched the accessibility features to high contrast that there would still be the multitude of colors that are currently on the display. What happens is that a majority of the viewing area turns black and white. For me, with aging eyes, I found it much easier to read most of what was on the screen and that I wasn’t squinting as much as I usually do.
One of the best web sites that I have found so far is at Accessify.com. The web site has a variety of helpful tutorials on how to create accessible web pages. The web address is: http://www.accessify.com/tutorials/default.asp . Another interesting site is the Site Valet Developer Tools site which has a variety of links to various validator tools including checking XML and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines for proper HTML and XHTML.
