What are you folks' takes on whether or not to shut down nightly, occasionally, rarely?

There are pro-con issues around tube-saving, drive-saving, power-saving, file temp file cleanout, interfering-clutter and operations-that-happened-and-need-cleaning-out, startup power surges, startup time-wasting, etc.
