Funny you should mention turnips.  I had some fresh ones this weekend for
the first time in about 20 years.  They were absolutely delicious.  Small
ones are best, sweet, not as woody or pungent.  You can eat them raw or
slice/dice and cook in a small amount of water to fork tender.  They cook
fast.
