FREEDOM SCIENTIFIC ANNOUNCES NEW DAISY READERS
FOR PAC MATE OR DESKTOP

(St. Petersburg, Florida June 29, 2004) - Freedom Scientific today announced
its new FSReader applications for reading Daisy (Digital Accessible
Information System) formatted digital talking books on the Desktop PC and on
their portable PAC Mate accessible Pocket PCs. The applications work with
Freedom Scientific's JAWS screen reader and offer full navigation of Daisy
2.0 e-books such as those available from RFB&D (Recording for the Blind &
Dyslexic) and Daisy 3.0, the ANSI/NISO standard, like those available from
Bookshare.

Using FSReader, a person with low vision or other print disability can
navigate to a particular point in a book from the table of contents or the
index, by browsing headings, or by flipping pages. They can reopen books
right to the place they left off and set multiple bookmarks. In books
containing both audio recording and text, users can fast forward and rewind
and even speed up the narrator. They can switch between recorded audio and
text with synthesized speech or even read along with the audio using one of
Freedom Scientific's refreshable Braille displays or MAGic screen
magnification software.

FSReader is compatible with the BX400 and QX400 series PAC Mate. Freedom
Scientific will be demonstrating FSReader at the upcoming National
Federation of the Blind and American Council of the Blind Conferences and
plans to begin shipping in September. US pricing for either the PAC Mate or
Desktop version is $79.95 or $119.95 if both are purchased together.
